Poshmark vs Depop for Selling Clothes

Written by the SellWhere editorial teamLast reviewed November 5, 2026

Both apps are fashion-only, both are mobile-first, and both expect you to work for visibility. The fee models are genuinely different, and the fee that looks worse on paper is not always the one that costs you more.

How each one charges

Poshmark takes a flat 20% commission on sales of $15 or more, and a flat $2.95 on anything under $15. The buyer pays a flat shipping fee, so you are not buying labels.

Depop charges 10% of item plus shipping, plus about 2.9% payment processing and a small per-transaction charge, which lands around 13% of the total.

  • $10 item: Poshmark takes $2.95, Depop takes about $1.90
  • $30 item: Poshmark takes $6.00, Depop takes about $4.47
  • $120 item: Poshmark takes $24.00, Depop takes about $16.10

Poshmark's $15 cliff

The flat $2.95 fee makes Poshmark unusually cheap for small sales and expensive for large ones. A $12 top costs you less there than on any other fashion platform. A $150 coat costs you $30, which is the moment most sellers start listing higher-ticket pieces elsewhere.

That cliff is worth structuring around. Bundle cheap items on Poshmark, and list a single expensive piece where the percentage is kinder.

The effort nobody prices in

Poshmark runs on sharing. Listings rise in feeds when you share them, so consistent sellers spend time every day sharing their own closet and other people's. If you will not do that, your listings sit at the bottom of a very deep pile.

Depop runs on aesthetics and the social feed. Photos need styling, descriptions need voice, and the item needs to fit a look buyers are already searching for. Both platforms reward work beyond listing; they just reward different work.

Which to use

  • Mainstream labels, denim, shoes, bags, anything with a recognisable brand: Poshmark's search-driven buyers are a better fit
  • Streetwear, Y2K, vintage tees, trend pieces: Depop's audience is looking for exactly that
  • Items under about $15: Poshmark's flat fee usually wins
  • Items over about $100: Depop's percentage fee usually wins, if the item fits the aesthetic
  • Anything that is not clothing: neither. Use eBay, Mercari, or a local sale

How these figures are checked: every rate here comes from the marketplace's own published seller documentation and is reviewed monthly. Read our editorial standards for the full method and corrections policy.
